What is hate crime?<\/h2><\/div>

A hate crime is any incident, which may or may not be a criminal offence, that is perceived by the victim or any other person as being motivated by prejudice or hostility towards someone based on their:<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Including ethnicity, nationality, national origin, colour, Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Religion or Faith<\/h4><\/div>

Disability<\/h4><\/div>

Hate incidents can include verbal abuse, harassment, intimidation, threats, physical assault, or damage to property.<\/strong><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What is a Hate Incident Reporting Centre (HIRC)?<\/h3><\/div>

RAMA is an accredited Hate Incident Reporting Centre (HIRC). This means we provide a safe and supportive place where victims or witnesses can report hate incidents or hate crimes.

As an HIRC, we offer an alternative to reporting directly to the Police. We work closely with Essex Police and partner agencies to ensure that individuals receive the support, information and guidance they need throughout the reporting process.

If you have experienced or witnessed a hate incident or hate crime, you can contact us for confidential support from a trained adviser. We can help you report the incident to the Police and connect you with other specialist organisations for further assistance.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
